Who is geezer butler

It was really mental. I don't think they even noticed we were there. We were left on our own. It was almost like paid rehearsals. We were able to do anything. In an interview with LouderSound, however, Butler set the record straight.

I was really excited to get one again. I was having a drink, flicking my knife, when Malcolm Young came up to me and started slagging Sabbath. Freed from the burden of writing lyrics for Ozzy, Geezer Butler was able to focus solely on the craft of bass playing, and it shows.

I couldn't stand it, and he [Ozzy] just refused to write any lyrics at that point. It was such a relief to have Ronnie come in, being a good lyricist and all, you know? He does, however, remember some of the idiosyncrasies of recording the Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules albums. On Heaven and Hell I used quite a small stack in the studio, and then Mob Rules , for some reason, I decided to use half my stage set up, and kept blowing up all the mics.

I really don't know why I did that, but I tried everything, and it took me about ten days to get a sound, and in the end, I had to go smaller again, and direct. The two records do differ slightly in production value. Butler reckons the sonic differences may have to do with the studios where each was recorded. But one real difference-maker may reside in how the albums were actually recorded, and in particular when the bass tracks were ultimately cut.

And so, once I sorted those problems out, I came back, but all the [other] tracks had been done. He added a lot of different kinds of percussion to the songs, whereas Vinny is more of a straightahead drummer—a [John] Bonham kind of style. Longtime friendships with Stevens and Perez helped to form the initial core of the lineup, but Sorum says that it was a pivotal moment when Butler agreed to join in.

With over 35 years of experience in the game, the vast majority as the rock solid bass power underpinning the might Black Sabbath sound, then surely this is one musician who knows a thing or two when it comes to blasting things out!

And it is the spirit of Black Sabbath that Geezer cites when searching to explain the spark that finally sent the members of GZR completed by guitarist Pedro Howse, vocalist Clark Brown, and drummer Chad Smith hurtling into the studio with a hectic day recording schedule to hit.

The answer began to take shape in , when the band launched a yearlong tour. Tweets by GeezerButler.
